FAQs
What is a Foxbox?
To comfort babies during hospital treatment, we give curated boxes of helpful items, toys, books, music and personalized decorations. We also provide supportive items for the infant’s primary caregiver so they are able to better support their baby.
Our six Foxboxes are designed to support the unique social/emotional, developmental and educational milestones infants experience through their first year of life.
How does it work?
Families are referred to Foxbox through their children’s hospital during their admission. We work directly with Child Life Specialists to connect with families and deliver our donations to hospitals.
Who qualifies for a Baby Box?
Babies with an anticipated hospital admission of 3 weeks or longer qualify for a Baby Box.
Who qualifies for a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Foxbox?
Babies in the PICU with an anticipated stay of 1 week or longer qualify for a PICU Box.
Are caregivers supported in the PICU?
Yes! Caregivers are supported in the PICU just as they are on other floors.
Why does Foxbox matter?
During our own experience living in a children’s hospital, we learned that incredibly important things were unavailable. Even simple things like feeding spoons were impossible to find.
Hospital donations for infants are rare. Often hospitals have very limited infant donations or none at all. Foxbox is 100% focused on supporting ages 0-12 months because there’s a big need for our help.
All families want the best possible chance for their infant to succeed in life. Caregivers of hospitalized infants are responsible for managing their social/emotional, educational and developmental growth plus their complex medical treatments. Foxbox exists to help families with daily hospital life so they can focus on medical treatments and spending quality time with their child.
How do you build a Foxbox?
We tailor every Baby Box to each baby’s personality and developmental needs. Our six box themes are playtime, feeding, movement, quiet time support, Pediatric Intensive Care, and bereavement. We include age-appropriate toys, books and comfort items based on feedback families provide us when they request a box. We view every baby as an individual and strive to support them as one.
What brands do you include in a Foxbox?
We only include high quality brands that can withstand the constant cleaning and moving required by hospitalized families. Brands we include in our boxes and we’d love to work with: Ergobaby, Baby Tula, Munchkin, Baby Einstein, Bright Starts, YETI, Hanna Andersson, Douglas, Angel Dear, Manhattan Toy, Hape, Melissa and Doug, BabyBjorn, SkipHop, Bumbo & Workman Publishing.
Who can apply for a Foxbox?
Families of infants with expected hospital admissions of 3 weeks or longer or a PICU admission of a week or longer. We support all diagnoses and units, except Neonatal Intensive Care Units.
We are currently only serving Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel, and Sutter Children’s Center.
How do families apply for a foxbox?
Child Life Specialists will refer families to us and give them our application. We’ll ask a series of questions via text messaging that can be finished at any time. By applying via text message, families can find time whenever they can to answer.
Can I donate items to go into to your boxes?
Thank you for your interest in donating in-kind items! We’re always looking for in-kind donations for our boxes. We’ve built an Amazon Wishlist to make picking out items to donate in-kind really easy!
What if the items I want to donate aren’t on your Amazon Wishlist?
We evaluate items on a case by case basis to ensure they meet the needs of hospitalized babies and their families. All items have to be new and in their original packaging.
We’d love to hear what you would like to donate!
Can I donate in-kind items in honor of someone?
We do accept in-kind donations in honor of someone but we’re not able to include a card or note about your person in our boxes. It’s a priority for us to make sure every box we provide is 100% focused on the baby we’ve built it for.
