Update: Meet Mya & Julie

We first shared Mya and Julie’s story during our launch event earlier this month. We’re honored to have their journey in our Family Story series. Julie has kindly provided an update on how Mya is doing and what new adventures she’s up to! 🌻💗🌻

We are so proud of how well Mya is doing and it’s great to see her getting stronger every day.

Mya finished her last dose of Chemotherapy on November 11th, 2019 and we were discharged from the hospital December 10th, 2019.

Mya did really well at home and she started crawling in January after her 1st birthday. She continued to do well until April 1st when her MRI showed growth and a new cyst growing out of her original tumor. Mya started radiation April 17th for 5 treatments every other day. Mya did amazing and tolerated the radiation well. We had to wait 8 weeks after the radiation to see if it made any difference. On June 24th, Mya had her 1st MRI after radiation and it showed no new growth. On September 1st, Mya had her 2nd MRI after radiation and the MRI was improved. The cyst that was seen on her MRI from April was completely gone. Mya will have another MRI at the end of November to see how things are going.

Mya is doing very well considering all she has went through. She can stand while holding on to something and likes to get into her sister’s toys 😊. Mya can say “mama” and “dada”. She is a sassy little thing and has quite the personality. Mya loves Elmo and will hand you a phone or remote for you to put Elmo on. She also loves to dance to her big sister’s music. We are so proud of how well Mya is doing and it’s great to see her getting stronger every day.
